Do you have any plans for the upcoming holiday weekend? I cannot wait for the long weekend at the cabin with endless food, a glass of wine as the sun sets and some serious card playing.
When packing, this weekend, in particular, can be tricky with regard to the weather. It might be chilly/wet or perfect, which is to say any weather condition except for chilly and wet. So as I consider what to bring I’ve decided to stick with the basics, that way I’m safe either way… hopefully.
H&M has a cargo jacket that will be great for chilly/wet conditions. It’s good to bring a jacket for the just in case situation. I have learned that it’s better to be warm than cold… anytime! Lately, I’ve been on the search for a pair of Adidas, they are so hot right now. I’m trying to find just the right pair and these blush pink superstars are just the ones, girlie and cool. They will look so cute with this sweatshirt and pink at the cabin is always a good idea we are in the north woods after all. I can’t leave out my favorite pair of jeans. Finding a comfortable pair of denim is never easy but these fit great and the distressing is a bonus.
It’s tradition for all the girls to go to the Annual Craft Fair Saturday morning first thing. Everyone that is up north at their cabin for the weekend usually shows up. Who knows, it may even be their tradition too. To give you a sense of size, the latest census of this town from 2010 is 653 people. Can you say… podunk?
Even so, everyone turns out to come to the Annual Craft Fair, not to mention we typically find something that we feel we just can’t live without. In any case, one of us will undoubtedly stand in line for the ever so popular kettle corn that gets roasted right in front of us. One wouldn’t imagine coming back to the cabin without a bag of the kettle corn, it’s the first thing grandpa asks for when we walk through the door, “did you bring me a bag of kettle corn?”
Back to packing.
Right now JCrew has some good pieces to take you from spring to the end of summer and I love that. Versatility is key. I am not the person who is going to buy an entirely new wardrobe each season, but I will add a new piece here and there to freshen things up. And this farmer’s market tote is a perfect option for hauling any finds from the craft fair or if I happen to find a diamond in the rough while antiquing.
In town, we hit our favorite antique shop.
With the time we spend at the cabin/lake we do very little as far as beauty concerns/hair care. And to make it even easier is this super cute gingham bandana, come on it’s still nice to look decent even up north. And if things really get unruly, I will have this on hand, it’s that simple.
My husband uses the lake for his shower.
Lastly, I feel my list would be incomplete if I didn’t mention this adorable swimming suit. I know for sure it will not make it out of the weekend bag, it’s just not warm enough yet. However, we have had some years granted not many, where it actually did get hot, it is rare, but you never know. I should also mention as much as I absolutely love that swimming suit, I need to always wear a rashguard. Skin cancer is not an option.
Gingham bandana because I mean… hello!
Party sweats sweatshirt to be warm, cozy and cute!
Cargo jacket for chilly wet weather, it’s very likely going to happen.
Rag & Bone The Dre slim boyfriend for sitting by the fire roasting marshmallows.
What’s a weekend without a straw hat, I mean come on!
The farmer’s market tote should do it for the entire weekend and then some.
Blush pink Adidas, need I say more?
And the giant bow on this Kate Spade number. Love it.
Hope you all have a great weekend in whatever you do. Be thankful for those who have fought and continue to fight to keep our country free. Without them, where would this country be? How are you celebrating this Memorial Day holiday, please share in the comments below!
